InterGen Studio™, is a mentored online platform that empowers youth and elders to collaborate, and tell each other’s stories at a broadcast-quality level. Our mission is to combat social isolation, sparking rewarding relationships across generations and cultures, and generating entertaining and accessible content to share.
Connecting the Disconnected
The youth are empowered in digital storytelling and learn how to bring their own creativity to enhance the retelling of the elders’ lifetimes. Bonds of friendship are formed between youth and seniors, teaching both generations how to listen and care for each other.
Co-creating storytelling content to enhance the self-esteem of participants and valorizes their roles in society. As a celebration of learning, the broadcast-quality media can be distributed locally and nationally.
Authentic Relationships
The collaboration gives voice to seniors who had felt ignored until this intervention. Seniors are now free to share their feelings and dreams and accomplishments with the wider broadcast world.
Through collaboration, mutual discovery, and team skill development, youth and elders come to relate to each other and form long-lasting relationships, thus breaking down isolation silos they are trapped in.
Celebrating Learning
The InterGen Studio’s mentorship is key to the success of this program. Mentors provide the development of creative self-esteem and sense of worth to the participants young and old. The mentors contribute to the promotion of cultural diversity and intercultural relationships through storytelling.
